Flenco

About

Flenco is the true fursona of Redencon. Flenco is a red cardinal, he's red, just like Redencon's name (and hair) suggests. Red is Redencon's favorite color. Red and black is a lovely combination, and Flenco's design makes it look beautiful. Flenco and his color palette are the symbols of Russian side of Redencon's personal website. Flenco is cool and represents what Redencon thinks represent him the best. However...

Flenco isn't Saman. Saman occupied the place of representation of Redencon, and Flenco was an attempt to replace the successful but less personal Saman. Ideas on who Flenco should be were invented before Saman even got his name. The initial idea was to make him a cockatiel, and a few sketches were made. The problem arose when Olez and Redencon tried to add red color as the primary color to the design. Cockatiel with red as a primary color either didn't look like one, or felt atrocious. Then the idea of a red cardinal came up, which felt like a horrible idea at first because of one particular red cardinal person infamous in Twitter furry community, but in the end it was the best choice. Flenco as a better representation of Redencon was created. Flenco is important enough to be the first Redencon character to have a fursuit made of him.

The main challenge with Flenco as the main fursona is that he's a bird. Birds have fewer good VRChat avatar bases (which might require making a custom model completely), and fewer artists are willing to draw bird characters. Perhaps in the future Redencon will find an author or two, who will be willing to draw Flenco, thus making more content with him, which will make him feel more like a main fursona. For now he's still lagging behind the amount of stuff being made of Saman and for Saman. Hope it'll change soon.
